First birthday balloons

First birthday balloons and setups

Garlands, easel signs, number one stacks and full setups with their name and date on, made by me in Rotherham for first birthdays across South Yorkshire.

I make first birthday balloons in Rotherham for parties across South Yorkshire: a garland round an easel sign, a number one stack, or the whole corner of the room with a backdrop that has their name and the date on it. Balloon stacks start from £50, easel displays from £80 and a full premium setup from £300. I make every piece myself, in Sempertex balloons, in the colours you pick.

A first birthday only happens once, and a lot of the photos you keep from the day get taken in front of the balloons. Below are the first birthday themes I have made, what goes into each one, and what they cost.

Berry first birthday balloon garland

This one is mine: a "berry first birthday" sign on a wooden easel, with a garland of red and baby pink balloons wrapped round the bottom and climbing up one side. I mixed big balloons with clusters of tiny ones so they look like bunches of berries, then added two strawberry foils and a few little red flowers through it. It sits in the corner of a room and still looks like a proper display.

Berries are easy to make your own. Keep the red and pink, swap the pink for white, or put their name on the sign under the words. An easel display like this starts from £80.

  • A berry first birthday easel sign wrapped in red and baby pink balloons with strawberry foils
    Berry first birthday easel display
  • A rainbow balloon half arch on white balloon clouds framing a first birthday backdrop, with white plinths and a teddy holding balloons
    Rainbow arch, backdrop and plinths
  • The rainbow first birthday setup in a marquee on the day, with bunting, cupcakes on the plinths and a light-up number one
The same setup on the day

Rainbow first birthday arch with a teddy

For this party I built a rainbow half arch in blue, purple, pink, green, yellow, orange and red, with trailing green leaves running through it, sitting on white balloon clouds at the bottom. It framed a printed backdrop with the little one's name, a drawing of a cake and the date. White plinths stood in front for the cupcakes, and a big teddy sat on a cloud on the other side holding a bunch of balloons.

It was in a marquee, which is where a full setup earns its keep: a plain white tent becomes the party. The same idea works against a wall in a hall or a front room. Tell me roughly how wide the space is and I will size it to fit.

Number 1 balloon stacks

A stack is a big number, a foil of their favourite character or theme if you want one, and a column of balloons in your colours. It stands on its own with no wall behind it, so it suits a smaller room, or a spot next to the high chair for the cake. The stack in my photos is a number three with Mickey Mouse; a number one is made the same way. Balloon stacks start from £50.

A backdrop with their name and the date

The backdrop is what turns balloons into a setup. Their full name, the date and a little picture, big enough to fill the space behind the cake table. With the date on it, every photo from the day is dated for you.

A balloon cake for the table

If you want something extra on the table, I make cakes out of balloons, with a candle on top. It is a nice touch when the real cake is a small one.

What I need from you to plan a first birthday

You do not need everything decided. Send me what you know and I will come back to you with a plan and a price:

  • the date of the party
  • where it is going: a front room, a hall, a garden or a marquee
  • your colours or theme, or a picture of the invitation or the cake
  • the name, age and date for the sign or backdrop
  • a photo of a first birthday setup you love, if you have one

The quickest way to reach me is WhatsApp, or use the quote form on this page. You can also see every price on my prices page, and more of what I make for other occasions on the occasions page.

First birthday balloon questions

  • Are balloons safe around a one-year-old?

Balloons are sold with a warning that children under eight can choke or suffocate on uninflated or broken balloons, so an adult should be nearby. Pick up any burst pieces straight away, and keep stacks and garlands where little hands cannot pull bits off.

  • Will a garland or arch float away?

No. Garlands, arches and stacks are usually filled with air and built on a frame or stand, so they stay where they are put. Helium is for the bunches that float, and those only float for a limited time.

  • Do you do first birthdays in Sheffield, Doncaster and Barnsley?

Yes. I am based in Rotherham and cover South Yorkshire, so all three are fine. If your party is further away, message me first and I will tell you if I can get to you.

  • Can I have a theme you have not made before?

Yes. Send me a picture of what you love, whether it is an invitation, a cake design or a screenshot, and I will tell you what I can make in those colours and what it would cost.

  • Can the balloons go outside or in a marquee?

Yes, but direct sun and heat make balloons fade and pop sooner, so shade helps. A marquee is fine. Tell me where it is going when you message and I will plan around it.

Got a date in mind?

Tell me the occasion and your colours. I'll come back to you with a plan and a price.
